Ireland is renowned for some of the greatest whiskey in the world and a trip to Dublin would not be complete without learning about and trying some of this delightful drink.
Perhaps the most famous of Irish whiskies, John Jameson started distilling whiskey in Ireland in 1780 in Bow St. Dublin. While this is no longer a working distillery, you can still come visit the grounds and learn all about the history of the famous whiskey, enjoy a tasting experience, learn how to make some delicious cocktails or even blend your own whiskey. For the whiskey lovers the Bow St. distillery offers some really unique experiences and for novices you will learn all you need to know, while getting to enjoy a tasty drink or two. Children are welcome on the tour but most of the experiences are over 18s.
The Jameson distillery is just a short journey on the Luas from the hotel making it easy to get there and drop your purchases back once your finished.
One of Dublin’s newer distilleries, it was the first new distillery in Dublin for over 125 years. Although the history of Teelings goes back much further, when Walter Teeling set up a small distillery in 1782 in Liberties. The latest generation of Teeling’ decided to set up the Teelings Whiskey Company back in the Liberties back where it all started. Visit a really working distillery, learn the secrets of Teelings Whiskey and enjoy a tasting at the end of the tour.
