EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum
Europe's Leading Tourist Attraction
Epic the Irish emigration museum is located just a 5-minute walk away from the Spencer Hotel and three times winners of Europe’s Leading Tourist Attraction at the World Travel Awards 2019, 2020, and 2021. So definitely worth a visit while staying in the hotel.
Located in the Vaults of the CHQ building this museum brings you on an interactive experience of what life in Ireland was like during the Irish diaspora and emigration to other countries in search for a better life. The museum which was developed in 2015 brings you into an experience where you will learn how the Irish influenced and shaped the world, read the letters of emigrants who sent letters home, learn about the Irish influence on music and hear the words of famous authors in the whispering library. You can even trace back your own heritage at the Irish Family History Centre.
There lots of fun bits to keep your little ones entertained too; let them collect every stamp in their souvenir passport, try some Irish dancing and take the EPIC quiz to see what they have learned during their trip. This museum is perfect for anyone who wants to learn about the history of Irish emigration in an interactive fun way.
It is also surrounded by other cultural attractions like the Famine Memorial Sculptures, Jeanie Johnston Famine Ship, The Custom House, Dublin Convention Centre, and more in the historic Dublin Docklands area.
Go beyond the stereotypes at EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum
You won’t find leprechauns or pots of gold here, but you’ll discover that what it means to be Irish expands far beyond the borders of Ireland through the stories of Irish emigrants who became scientist, politicians, poets, artists and even outlaws all over the world. Discover Ireland from the outside in and find out why saying “I’m Irish” is one of the biggest conversation starters, no matter where you are.
