Summer’s not over yet – make the most of your August in Dublin

Before you start thinking those long summer nights are almost behind you, there is still so much to do and experience this summer in Dublin. With festivals, food, cliff-jumping and rugby there’s a lot more good times to be had and memories to be made. We’ve put together a list of some of the key things to see and do this August that will ensure the best is yet to come!

Relish in all things wine and cheese at the Wine and Cheese Festival in Iveagh Gardens this August 8th to 11th. Enjoy the perfect summer day date or catch up with friends accompanied by an endless selection of Pinot Noir and Brie!

For all comic enthusiasts you’re here at the right time. Dublin’s Comic Con comes to the Convention Centre Dublin for its summer edition this August 10th & 11th. With much more than just comics, enjoy everything from escape rooms, virtual reality, interactive sets and more. It’s the perfect family day out or get together for true comic fans.

In summer sometimes it’s the simple things that are most impressive. Plan a day to cycle through Phoenix Park and take in all the wonderful sights of Europe’s largest park. See if you can spot a deer or better yet spend some time at Dublin Zoo! Throw in a picnic and it’s your perfect summers evening.

You haven’t experienced true Irish culture until you’ve been to a rugby match in the one and only Aviva Stadium. Watch Ireland play Italy for their third fixture in the Guinness Summer Series this August 10th and take in atmosphere like no other.

If you enjoy running and like a challenge, why not take part in a Marathon with a twist?  This August 10th & 11th Dublin’s Rock n’ Roll Half Marathon takes place at Fitzwilliam Square East. Enjoy live music as you run past some of Dublin’s most famous landmarks and celebrate crossing the finish line with a live concert.

Another summer must do, plan a day to go to Dublin’s favourite swimming spot!  Plunge into the 40 foot deep water and take in the beautiful scenery. Enjoy a break with a cool teddies ice-cream and you’re in Dublin summer heaven.

There’s really not much that beats a BBQ food and beer festival in summer! The Big Grill Festival returns to Herbert Park this August 15th to 18th for another year of BBQ food and craft beer fun. Enjoy food from over 20 restaurants, learn all about barbecuing and take part in a hot wing eating challenge!

In Dublin we’re lucky to have the gorgeous Wicklow Mountains right outside the city. Be sure to take a day this summer to explore some of Ireland’s best loved climbs. Clear your mind with beautiful scenery and fresh country air with a great choice of walks to choose from.
