By Luas: The Spencer Hotel is located a 2-minute walk from the Luas red line, on the Mayor Square – NCI Luas stop with the Luas arriving approx every 10 mins during peak times. There are two main lines for the Luas, the red line and the green line. The red line, which is located very close to The Spencer, services stops such as Abbey Street, Four Courts, Smithfield, and Heuston Station, then continue on to Red Cow and then either Saggart or Tallaght. Should you wish to venture out to South Dublin, you can take the red line Luas to Abbey Street and from there it is just a two-minute walk to the green line Luas, alternativity you can walk to the stop in just 14 minutes from the hotel. The stops for the green line include Ranelagh, Dundrum, Sandyford, Leopardstown and Cherrywood. Fares vary depending on your journey. If you are going to Bord Gais Energy Theatre from The Spencer Hotel, you can walk there in 8 minutes and take directions as follows:

  • Take a left as you come outside of The Spencer Hotel entrance
  • Walk down towards Samuel Beckett Bridge and cross over it
  • Take a left once you have crossed the bridge and continue to the next right turn
  • Walk down Cardiff Lane until you get to Misery Hill (you'll see the theatre in front of you)


O'Connell Street

  • Come out of The Spencer Hotel entrance and take a right
  • Walk straight down the quays until you reach O'Connell Bridge
  • When you reach O'Connell Bridge take a right down on O'Connell Street (you will see the famous O'Connell Monument on the street)
  • It should take around 11-15 minutes on foot, depending on your pace

  • You can walk there in about 30 minutes or jump into a taxi for a journey lasting around 11 minutes
