Farmleigh house and estate, located in Phoenix park is the official Irish State guest house and holds important collections, an art gallery and a farm. The house provides accommodation for dignitaries who are visiting Ireland and guests of the nation. However, this house is also open to the public throughout the year where you can take a tour and learn all about the history of the estate.
Farmleigh House was originally owned by the Guinness family and was a small Georgian house, however renovations took place and they extended the house and added an extra floor. In 1999 Farmleigh estate was purchased by the Irish Government and was carefully refurbished for the visiting dignitaries, high level Government meetings and pubic enjoyment. The house has hosted some very important world-wide dignitaries including; Barack Obama, Justin Trudeau and Queen Elizabeth.
You can take a guided tour where you can learn all about the house from the 18th century up to today. Enjoy the gallery exhibition where there are a variety of paintings from Irish artists, the exhibitions change throughout the year, so there is always something new to see. A walk on grounds is enjoyable, where there are many sculptures to see. Farmleigh house is easily accessible by bus or LUAS from the Spencer hotel.
