Something different to do in the capital this summer

Looking for something a bit different to do in the capital this summer? We have put together a list of some of our favourite things to do with something to suit everyone, whether you’re a daredevil, want to learn about history or have some fun in the river.

Take a trip out the city and enjoy some thrill seeking fun at Zipit. Located in Tribadden woods in the Dublin Mountains, Zipit gives you the opportunity to take flight through the woods. With 5 different circuit levels, everyone can take part with something to suit the not so daring to the complete daredevils. Who doesn’t want to zip down a 135m zipline?

Another great thing to visit in the Dublin mountains is the hell fire club. Prepared for a bit of a scare? The Hellfire Club tour offers an insight into some of the legends that surround Dublin. Take the trip from the city centre up to the Dublin mountains, where you will then take the walk up to the burnt-out shell of a hunting lodge. Not only do you get to hear some great stories but you also get some fabulous view of the city below. This is an evening tour and is on rocky terrain so make sure to dress appropriately and bring a flashlight to keep the ghosts at bay!

Everyone knows the Irish are famous for their sense of humour and what better than to have a few laughs at a comedy club. Now while there are quite a few around the city one of the best to go to is the International Comedy Club. With comedy acts playing 4 nights per week you are guaranteed a great night out, but beware the venue is small so no one is safe from the comedians!

The Vaults live is a relatively new addition to Dublin offering something totally different for all to enjoy. Learn about the juiciest parts of Irish history in a fun way, with characters helping you relive these moments. Set in a Victorian school house, an entertaining few hours is guaranteed when you enter the vaults.

Want to see the city in a different way and avoid all the crowds on the street? Take a trip down the river Liffey in a kayak! Start your journey at the Samuel Beckett bridge and sail towards the city centre. Kayaking at high tide will allow you to see the city in a whole new way. They also offer music under the bridges, a cool experience where you enjoy kayaking and then watch some of Dublin’s best musicians perform under the bridges – how many people can say they have experienced that? Why not bring your experience up a notch and enjoy a cocktail class with your friends in the Spencer Bar after your kayaking, you will learn how to make two cocktails and most importantly enjoy them after, it’s a day that’s bound to impress all!
